OXNARD POLICE OFFICER RESERVE ACADEMY COMPLETED OR CURRENTLY ATTENDING
APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED ON AN ON GOING BASIS, HOWEVER THEY WILL ONLY BE PROCESSED DURING THE MONTHS OF JANUARY AND AUGUST (to coincide with the Academy semesters).
Reserve Police Officers in the City of Oxnard while working with regular police officers enjoy the full spectrum of police duties under exceptionally varied conditions that provide the maximum opportunity for personal growth in a challenging profession. Reserve Police Officers perform general law enforcement of traffic regulations, crime prevention and other related work as required.
- Completion of a POST certified reserve academy within the past 24 months or currently enrolled in a POST certified reserve academy.
- High school graduate or GED; and 21 years of age.
- Valid California Driver’s License, and must meet the City of Oxnard’s driving standard of less than three moving violations within the past two years.
- U.S. Citizenship or applied for within 12 months.
- Excellent physical condition.
Desirable Requirements — College education is highly desirable. All reserve officers are encouraged to continue their college education after employment. The ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
A completed City of Oxnard application and a Certificate of Completion from the reserve academy attended must be filed with the Special Services Unit CSO, Oxnard Police Department, 251 S. “C” Street, Oxnard, CA 93030. A City application may be downloaded from our website at www.oxnard.org. Do not submit a resume with your application.
Applications will be screened. Qualified candidates will be scheduled for an oral interview. Prior to appointment all candidates must pass a comprehensive medical examination based on the Oxnard Medical Standards for entry level Police Officer. A thorough background investigation will be conducted and applicants will be required to undergo a polygraph test, psychological evaluation and medical examination. A Written and/or Physical agility test may be administered at the discretion of the Police Department.
