The Oxnard Police Department announced that an arrest was made in the shooting death of 14-year-old Leonardo Gonzalez Jimenez. Major Crimes Detectives have arrested a 15-year-old Oxnard resident and charged him with the murder of Jimenez.
On September 12, 2022, at 7:45 P.M., Oxnard police officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of South C Street. Officers found Jimenez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Jimenez was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center but died of his injuries.
The Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, assisted by personnel from the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU), Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), and special agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), worked tirelessly and diligently to uncover evidence and information on the case. Detectives were able to obtain evidence that the 15-year old shot and killed Jimenez. Detectives believe the motive for the shooting is gang related.
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, at approximately 7:45 P.M., detectives assigned to the homicide investigation spotted the 15-year-old juvenile in the 800 block of Elm Court. Detectives took the juvenile into custody without incident and lodged the juvenile in Ventura County Juvenile Hall on the charge of murder.
